24 * The X25519, X448, Ed25519, Ed448 and SHAKE256 algorithms are included in
25 the FIPS provider. None have the "fips=yes" property set and, as such,
26 will not be accidentially used.
4477beac
DMSP
27 * The algorithm specific public key command line applications have
28 been deprecated. These include dhparam, gendsa and others. The pkey
29 alternatives should be used intead: pkey, pkeyparam and genpkey.
30 * X509 certificates signed using SHA1 are no longer allowed at security
31 level 1 or higher. The default security level for TLS is 1, so
32 certificates signed using SHA1 are by default no longer trusted to
33 authenticate servers or clients.
5f8e6c50
DMSP
34 * enable-crypto-mdebug and enable-crypto-mdebug-backtrace were mostly
35 disabled; the project uses address sanitize/leak-detect instead.
36 * Added OSSL_SERIALIZER, a generic serializer API.
be19d3ca 37 * Added OSSL_PARAM_BLD, an easier to use API to OSSL_PARAM.
5f8e6c50
DMSP
38 * Added error raising macros, ERR_raise() and ERR_raise_data().
39 * Deprecated ERR_put_error().
40 * Added OSSL_PROVIDER_available(), to check provider availibility.
41 * Added 'openssl mac' that uses the EVP_MAC API.
42 * Added 'openssl kdf' that uses the EVP_KDF API.
43 * Add OPENSSL_info() and 'openssl info' to get built-in data.
44 * Add support for enabling instrumentation through trace and debug
45 output.
46 * Changed our version number scheme and set the next major release to
47 3.0.0
48 * Added EVP_MAC, an EVP layer MAC API, and a generic EVP_PKEY to EVP_MAC
49 bridge.
50 * Removed the heartbeat message in DTLS feature.
51 * Added EVP_KDF, an EVP layer KDF API, and a generic EVP_PKEY to EVP_KDF
52 bridge.

53 * All of the low level MD2, MD4, MD5, MDC2, RIPEMD160, SHA1, SHA224,
54 SHA256, SHA384, SHA512 and Whirlpool digest functions have been
55 deprecated.
56 * All of the low level AES, Blowfish, Camellia, CAST, DES, IDEA, RC2,
57 RC4, RC5 and SEED cipher functions have been deprecated.
58 * All of the low level DH, DSA, ECDH, ECDSA and RSA public key functions
59 have been deprecated.
