  27 .SH DESCRIPTION
  28 \fI/etc/group\fP is an ASCII file which defines the groups to which users
  29 belong.  There is one entry per line, and each line has the format:

  32 group_name:passwd:GID:user_list
  33 .RE

  35 The field descriptions are:
  36 .IP group_name
  37 the name of the group.
  38 .IP password
  39 the (encrypted) group password.  If this field is
  40 empty, no password is needed.

  42 the numerical group ID.
  43 .IP user_list
  44 all the group member's user names, separated by commas.
