13
Identification

15
This software test plan provides detailed tests that are used
16 to evaluate the stability and compliance of the Common UNIX
17 Printing System ("CUPS") Version 1.1.

21
Document Overview

23
This software test plan is organized into the following sections:
27
2 - References

28
3 - Test Procedure

29
4 - IPP Compliance Tests

30
5 - Command Tests

36
Test Procedure

38
The test software and data files are located in the <VAR>test</VAR>
39 subdirectory of the source distribution. A script is provided to compile
40 the
ipptest
program and run all of the tests that follow,
41 producing a success/fail report.
43
The
test
target of the top-level makefile can be used to
50
or you can run the test script directly:
57
A Software Test Report is stored in HTML and PDF files that
58 are generated using the
59 HTMLDOC software.
61
IPP Compliance Tests

63
This section describes the tests used to validate the IPP
64 standards compliance of the CUPS server.
66
Request Tests

68
These tests verify that the CUPS scheduler only accepts valid
69 IPP requests that start with the
attributes-charset

70 and
attributes-natural-language
attributes and also
71 contain a
printer-uri
or
job-uri
attribute.
73
It also verifies that the CUPS scheduler always responds with
74
attributes-charset
and
75
attributes-natural-language
attributes, using
76 default values if they are not provided by the client.
78
CUPS Printer Operation Tests

80
These tests verify that the CUPS printer operations are supported
81 and function properly. Two printers called
Test1
and
82
Test2
are created, one as a PostScript printer and one
85
Job Operation Tests

87
These test verify that the CUPS scheduler accepts print jobs for
88 all supported file formats and that the
cancel-job
,
89
hold-job
, and
resume-job
operations work.
91
Command Tests

93
This section describes the tests used to validate the
94 Berkeley and System V commands included with CUPS.
98
This test verifies that printers can be added, modified, and
99 defaulted using the
lpadmin
command.
103
This test verifies that the
lpc
command can show
104 the current status of all print queues.
108
This test verifies that the
lpq
command lists
109 any jobs in the queue.
113
This test verifies that the
lpstat
command works
114 with all reports using the "
-t
" option.
118
This test verifies that the
lp
command works
119 with both the default destination and a specific destination.
123
This test verifies that the
lpr
command works
124 with both the default destination and a specific destination.
128
This test verifies that the
lprm
command can
129 properly cancel a job.
133
This test verifies that the
cancel
command can
134 properly cancel a job or all jobs.
138
This test verifies that the
lpinfo
command
139 returns a list of available printer drivers and devices.
